Shark in the Net: Think Before You Click!
Written by Chris Ramey
The internet can be an amazing place for kids to learn, create, play, and connect. But just like exploring the ocean, it helps to know how to stay safe along the way.

Helping Kids Explore the Internet Safely
Shark in the Net: Think Before You Click! was created to introduce young readers to important internet-safety ideas in a way that feels fun instead of frightening. Through Sharknet and his underwater friends, kids learn simple habits like protecting their passwords, keeping personal information private, being kind to others online, taking breaks from screens, and asking a trusted adult for help when something doesn’t feel right.
The book also introduces newer challenges kids are beginning to encounter online, including recognizing AI-generated images and videos, identifying misleading information, and understanding the way websites learn from what we watch and click.
The goal isn’t to make children afraid of technology. It’s to help them become more thoughtful when using it.
Because the internet should still be a place to explore, discover, laugh, learn, and create.
And Sharknet’s biggest reminder is simple:
Pause. Think. Click.
A kinder, safer, brighter internet starts with the choices we make every day.
