Eclipse Festival Poster

Created in Adobe InDesign

Every great design project starts with a spark of inspiration. For this one, I wanted to build a bold and cinematic poster concept for a fictional music festival its something that felt larger than life. Since music festivals thrive on energy, escapism, and atmosphere, I centered the design around the dramatic imagery of a solar eclipse. That powerful visual gave the concept its name: Eclipse Festival.

Design Goals & Concept

I imagined a futuristic electronic/indie rock festival taking place under a dramatic cosmic backdrop. To capture that feeling, I built the poster around:

  • A glowing eclipse to act as both the centerpiece and hierarchy anchor
  • Cyan highlights to contrast against the deep blacks
  • Modern, futuristic typography to reinforce the high-energy music vibe
  • Dynamic silhouettes of raised hands to represent the festival crowd

The balance of light and shadow became a huge part of the theme. Its music, like an eclipse, is all about powerful moments in the dark and the light.

Creative Process in Adobe InDesign

This poster was fully assembled and laid out in Adobe InDesign. I imported the eclipse artwork as a background image, then layered type and vector silhouettes to create depth and focus.

Some design decisions I made along the way:

  • Headline typography is bold and clean to demand attention from afar
  • Band listings are split into “Headliners,” “Features,” and “Additional Artists” for clear hierarchy
  • Essential info (date, venue, pricing, age limit, and restrictions) is grouped in logical zones to avoid clutter
  • Negative space around the eclipse keeps the design readable even with a lot of text

I also included subtle details like a fictional venue name (Blackrock Soundstage), ticket information, and festival policies to give the concept full realism.

What This Project Taught Me

This poster helped strengthen my skills in:

Typography hierarchy
Composition and spatial balance
Visual storytelling & branding for entertainment
Creating print-ready layouts in InDesign

It also reminded me that creativity doesn’t have to be tied to real-world constraints, building fictional promotions can be an amazing way to explore style and expand a portfolio.
